Study Guide for Navigating the D319 Module đź“ť
In our comprehensive research on the course material and the OA of the module, we have identified the most beneficial study methods and tips and tricks to guide you to success. So let us share with you the step-by-step approach to acing the OA that we have prepared. We recommend that you try your best to adhere to the advice we have mentioned. But feel free to go through our advice and create your own study path if it better suits your needs.
Step 1 – Gain the basic knowledge of the course material
To begin our studies on module D319, we will comb through different study materials to gain the knowledge required to pass the OA. As our first resource, we have chosen the YouTube video “AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate 2020 (PASS THE EXAM!)” by FreeCodeCamp to understand the basics of the AWS cloud architect curriculum. This is a 10-hour-long video that will take you through each topic in the curriculum and provide you with depth knowledge of the core concepts. We recommend that you divide this video into three study sessions to help you grasp the knowledge better. This will give you ample time to review the material and also give you much-needed rest in between sessions to keep you concentrated.Â
At the end of each topic in this video, you will be provided with a cheat sheet that summarizes and highlights all the significant information on that topic. These cheat sheets are very valuable for revising your knowledge and helping you memorize the information, so take screenshots of each cheat sheet and keep them compiled in a folder to refer back to them in your free time. Also, we also recommend taking your own short notes while going through the course content as well. It is well known that writing down information helps you grasp information in a much more progressive manner than just listening.

Step 2 – Go through the WGU-provided textbook (Study guide)
Once you finish the YouTube video and gain the knowledge of the basics of AWS cloud architect, we will utilize the WGU-provided textbook to strengthen our knowledge and refresh our memory. Even though we call the resource a textbook, this resource is mainly a list of videos that will walk you through the course content. Even though this might seem repetitive, we highly recommend that you go through the textbook in its entirety and revisit each topic. In addition to the videos, the textbook also contains knowledge checks and quizzes to help you retain the knowledge and validate your memory. So watch the videos, attempt the quizzes, and update your short notes to complete step 2 of our study guide.
To find the textbook, log into your WGU student portal and visit the module page of D319. There you will find the button “Go to course material”. Click this button to redirect you to the textbook.
(If you require further material to gain knowledge of AWS Cloud architect, refer to the External Resources section of this article”
Step 3 – Go through practice quizzes
As we have gone through the course content twice, you should be competent in your knowledge of module D319. So let us test your knowledge and memorization skills in this step by going through several practice questions. We have listed several practice tests for you to complete below. Make sure not to refer to your notes in your first attempt, only refer to them once you have answered all the questions and it is time to review your answers.
- Textbook section review quizzes – Retake the quizzes in each module once again to test your memory)
- Percepio Testprep – Log into your WGU Percepio page to find practice tests for module D319
- (Optional) practice exam for AWS Cloud Architect by Stephan Maarek- Link
By going through these practice quizzes, you will be able to identify gaps in your knowledge and get a chance to work on them before facing the final assessment.
Step 4 – Attempt the D319 PA
In this step, we will utilize the PA of D319 to make our final preparations before the final challenge. When you are attempting the Pre-A, make sure you treat it as a real exam. This will allow us to get an accurate evaluation of our knowledge to see if we meet the standards to face the OA. So schedule the Pre-A at a time of your convenience and go through the test.
Once you successfully complete the Pre-A, a coaching report will be automatically generated for you in the same location where you found the Pre-A. This report will show your performance on the Pre-A and it will allow you to identify your weak points in each topic. So go through the coaching report and note down the topics that you have scored the lowest. By using the short notes and study notes, refresh your knowledge in these chapters. Then retake the Pre-A and try to achieve a score of 85% or more. If you fail to achieve this score, follow the same process and refresh your memory once again by going through the coaching report. Retake the Pre-A as many times as you require to achieve this passing score of 85% before moving on to the next step.
Step 5 – Sit for the OA
Now that you have passed the Pre-A, you are more than ready to overcome the final obstacle in module D319. So go ahead and schedule the OA as soon as possible. This will allow you to attempt the exam while the knowledge is fresh in your mind. Go through the Tips and tricks to pass the OA section of our article to gain valuable insight into the OA. Use the same methods and strategies you used in the Pre-A and ace the exam. Best of luck!

Tips and Tricks to Pass the D319 OA👨🏻‍🏫
Passing the OA for AWS Cloud Architecture (D319) requires thorough preparation and strategic study. Here are some tips and tricks to help you succeed:
- Understand the Pre-A Thoroughly: The OA is more challenging than the Performance Assessment (Pre-A), but they share a similar structure. Make sure you go through the PA in detail and understand all the options for each multiple-choice question. Reviewing the PA thoroughly will give you a good foundation and familiarize you with the type of questions you can expect.
- Review AWS Whitepapers: For each topic covered in the course, review the relevant AWS whitepapers. These documents provide in-depth information and best practices that are crucial for understanding the material deeply. Taking the time to read these whitepapers will enhance your knowledge and prepare you for the exam. (AWS White papers can be found in the course search section of the module)
- Focus on Security: The OA has a heavy emphasis on security, so ensure you are well-versed in encryption types (at Rest, In Transit, Client/Server), AWS Key Management Service (KMS), and CloudHSM. Understanding Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and reviewing security policies in general will be critical.
- Know Your Databases: Be familiar with different types of databases such as Aurora, DynamoDB, and RDBMS. Understand the differences between them and their specific use cases. Additionally, review Elastic File System (EFS), FSx, Elastic Block Store (EBS), and Simple Storage Service (S3), including lifecycle policies.
- Understand Key Services: Ensure you know the different Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) endpoints and their functions, CloudFront, and the distinctions between Aurora and NoSQL databases compared to other database types. Pay attention to keywords like “Serverless” as they often indicate specific AWS services or features.
- Use the MCQ Elimination Method: For multiple-choice questions, use the elimination method to narrow down your options. This approach can increase your chances of selecting the correct answer by eliminating obviously incorrect choices first.
- Manage Your Time Efficiently: Time management is crucial during the OA. Allocate your time wisely, ensuring you have enough time to review your answers. Avoid spending too much time on any one question; if you’re stuck, move on and return to it later if time permits.
By following these tips and preparing diligently, you will enhance your understanding of AWS Cloud Architecture and increase your chances of passing the OA successfully. Good luck!
